Two hundred years after the end of the world and no one remembers the earth anymore. Humanity has moved on to an era of relative peace. When an eager young Malcolm from the affluent Amalthean colony finds old monograms detailing gruesome human trials designed to extend humanity’s average lifespan, files that are not supposed to exist, he learns three things: The first is the catalyst for these experiments is an organism found on an icy dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt. He learns the siblings who survived those trials are still alive, and they would do just about anything to protect one another.

The Enai are dying. After millennia of abducting and assimilating dozens of species, they begin to birth offspring too weak to survive their planet's harsh climate. With an aging population and no solution in sight, the Enai turn their eyes toward Solians, hoping the addition of complex matter might save them.
